Detailed product description:
The Gateway Lite BT is an integrated digital media player and hands-free adapter with wireless technology, which works as a virtual CD-changer in your car.
Wireless profiles:
HFP: Wireless hands-free profile for hands-free callings.
A2DP: Advanced Audio Distribution Profile for streaming any kind of audio from your phone.
AVCRP: Audio/Video Remote Control Profile with wireless technology to enable the car's factory controls to manage your iPhone. With this, the head unit is able to command the phone e.g. accept or reject incoming phone calls, start music playing, change track, etc.
Because of this profiles is that possible, that certain cars, which have a hands-free function, cannot stream music or navigation on the factory sound system. A reason can be that the sound system does not include the A2DP profile, so you cannot stream music however you have handsfree in your car. This problem is solved with the Lite BT's different wireless profiles.
Run through the CD-changer:
The Gateway Lite BT was developed for car brands without text display which has factory CD-changer, or pretreatment. The Lite BT is actually a CD-changer emulator, which means the car perceives it as a CD-changer.
That is why the notes at each compatibility are so important because sometimes only a button shows the difference if the car is able to handle a CD-changer.
With using the CD-changer is it possible to manage the connected devices (iPhone, iPod, USB stored music and folders) via the car's built-in controls. Every button on the head unit is for using the CD changer, and those buttons get new functions by the Gateway.
The call signal (ringing) depends on the source of the audio content. In the simplest case, this source is the Gateway itself, because this way the device controls the sound and by muting the source, the phone can ring through the speakers.
Another, a little bit more difficult case is when the source is not the CD-changer, but another one like FM radio. In this case, the Gateway which has a mute cable connected to the head unit signals the incoming call by muting the volume periodically. By changing to CD-changer source we can accept the call immediately, or we can reject it by pushing the previous button right after the changing. The phone can stay in your pocket while calling.
You can choose if you want to use the car radio buttons or the phone itself to manage your calls. You can accept, decline or hold the calls with the with the radio,- or the steering wheel buttons.
The Gateway Lite BT is able to USB connection without any external accessories thanks to its own USB port so you are can listen to even nonstop music from USB flash drive if its storage capacity allows it.
The Lite BT works as a virtual CD-changer so the factory car radios perceive it as a 6 disc-capacity-CD-changer. Therefore it is able to manage 6 folders: 4 could store playlists and you can change tracks between them with the steering wheel buttons.
Connections:
You can connect older iPods with 30 pin connector which don't have wireless connection only with an accessory cable (IPDC1GW).
If you want to connect a device to the Gateway via AUX, choose the CABL-AUX accessory.
With some BMW models, the CD-changer is built in the trunk. If you want to access the Gateway anytime for example from the glove compartment use the 4,5m long extension cable (EXT1GW1).
For what and how can you use it:
Pair with a wireless-capable cellphone and use it as a sterling hands-free and music player.
You can accept, decline or hold the calls with the car's factory buttons.
Listen to music stored on USB (flash drive, mobile HDD or any other USB device) on your car factory audio system.
You can select USB folders with the buttons of the CD-changer.
Change tracks with steering wheel,- or the radio buttons
The further functions of the iPod are available on the car's original control (click-wheel).
In the most cases, installing the Gateway doesn't require a product-specific expertise. The main part of the installation is to access the wire harness behind the head unit to which the device will be connected (mostly hidden in the glove box department) and to lead off the external microphone to the inside mirror. However, we recommend entrusting a professional with the installation of Gateway.
The package contains a harness with the right connector that fits your car type. This makes a branch T so no soldering is needed, you only have to plug in the connectors. For a professional installer, this takes about an hour depending on the car brand. On the Youtube, you can find a lot of tutorials too.
*We recommend you to find a professional car audio install store nearby you, to fit Dension products into your car! (No head unit removal tools included in the package.)

My CD changer broke on E46 BMW and wanted to get more modern alternative than standard old fashioned 6 CD changer. Dension seemed like a good alternative as it supports A2DP streaming from my iPhone and also has a possibility to play mp3s from a memory stick. Only drawback I noticed is that track names are only displayed if playing from USB stick but for music via A2DP it only displays track number on navigation display. Controls however work fine for both input sources.
Installed the unit last weekend and so far I am very satisfied. Just remember to order the extension cable if your radio is in trunk and want to take the gateway to the front so you can swap USB drives on and off.

I was looking for a product to allow a covert install, allowing me to keep the OEM interface of my 2001 Audi, while still allowing me iPod/iPhone/phone connectivity.
This was perfect. Easy install (just watch as my grounding lead was incorrectly labelled mute, throwing me for a few minutes), and worked straight off, no issues. Box hidden easily away in the glovebox, so no idea from the outside that what looks like a very old fascia is actually entirely connected. Thanks!

Very simple to install in my 2006 Yaris. Works like a charm, car looks completely stock with OEM radio but now has the added functionality of handsfree calling, A2DP BT streaming music, USB in and (with an extra cable) iPod connectivity. Steering wheel controls also work and music sounds great. Highly recommended.

Simplicity itself to install in my Audi A3 (although I didn't like taking a Stanley knife to the glove box!) and it worked perfectly first time.
The only problem I had was the phone mute plug didn't fit into the quadlock - and trying too hard broke the connector off.... However, the Gateway Lite works alongside the BT in the radio so no problem really.

Installed in my Mazda3 2006 and was very simple. I removed the ash tray and placed the BT light module there so all wires are hidden. I did not use the mute wire and the music mutes when there is an incoming call. The product features state that 3.5mm auxillary jack is optional. Not sure what it means as I did not find any AUX input. Am I missing something? This apart the product works as stated. There is also an import duty on this product, which was a surprise.

Great product.
Installed it in my bmw E46 behind the dashboard. Installation took me about 2,5 hours. It's quite easy but it just takes time if you want to do it perfect.
Sound quality is excellent and bluetooth connects seamlessly to my iPhone 5. Steering wheel controls also work great.
Only con I can think of is the lack of ID3 tags over bluetooth. Technically this should be possible imo, there my previous car also had this feature. Maybe this function will be implemented in future updates, we shall see. ID3 tags do work with music from a USB stick tough, but off course I didn't buy it for this purpose.
Altogether I can definitely recommend this device!

I have received the device on Friday. the preparation to mount is long if you are precise as I am so it took me 3 hours to unmount the parts of the car and preapre all to saturday.Saturday it took me 1 our to mount and remount all the rest. All went well, more than well! It is the first adapter for car that I had only to plug it in the original radio and it work! Well done !!! the only litle thing : the trnaparent plastic on the mute, useless as mounted on the original connector and it fit perfectly!!!All is working fine sound is also perfect! Bravo Denison for a well predicted and studied tool. Top of the things: if your samrtphone have a GPS like mine with COPILOT you can connet it to the carit work!!! and you keep houndred of euro in psending for an other GPS. Itr costed me only 79 EURO!!!!!

I got it several days ago. Installation wasn't difficult. i spent approximately 1.5 hour to install everything. BT handsfree options work fine. Incomming call - music is off. Very nice. Now I have all my musik from my iPOD with me, do not need a bunch of CD's in a car.
The BT lite - is very very usefull regular audio upgrade of my Suzuki SX4. Highly recommend.

The order arrived rfom Hungary within 48 hours of placing the order, excellent and efficient service. As for the product, it functions very well. I have integrated the unit with a MINI Cooper S Factory Head unit. The Nexus 7 tablet connects automatically with the unit the moment the ignition is switched on and the sound quality if fantastic. I have the Harmon Kardon Boost Radio system and I cannot notice a difference between a bluetooth connection and a hard wired connection. Very pleased with the system and reasonable price for what the system does. I can verify that the steering functions for changing tracks work over bluetooth.

I was looking for several options to get Bluetooth into my 2005 Passat (3BG) and Dension appealed the most to me. It suits my needs perfectly, preserving the original Volkswagen stereo (Gamma V) and the steering wheel controls. Installation is as easy as it can gets and even if you have a single CD player unit like myself you will find the option to install the Dension unit. Sound quality over Bluetooth is perfect, connection to my iPhone 5 after starting the ignition is near instant. It is clear the guys at Dension know what they are doing. I do not use the headset function (although it works like a charm, especially with Siri) because the microphone that comes with the unit is not good enough for my needs. Good microphones cost 200 Euro alone and it cannot be expected from Dension to pack one with their units. Everything together I am as happy as you can be with this unit and a great thanks to all the people involved at Dension for making such a great product and getting it out to me within three working days ;)
